Russian figure skater Elizaveta Tuktamysheva talked about her relationship with Japanese rivals Kaori Sakamoto and Maya Mihara.

“I wish Maya good luck and peace (Mihara will perform at the World Championships in Saitama – socialbites.ca), everything will be fine. Good luck and Kaori Sakamoto, she’s a great figure skater, I support them.

Japan can live peacefully in figure skating, it has great athletes. I love and miss them”, – quotes the skater TASS.

The World Figure Skating Championships will be held from March 22-25 in Saitama, Japan.

Last year, Tuktamysheva became the silver medalist of the World Championship in single skating, and also won the world team championship. However, she did not qualify for the Olympics as she was only included in the Olympic team as a substitute.

From the spring of 2022, Russian skaters are not allowed to compete in tournaments under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU). Thus, representatives of Russia did not perform at the 2022 World Championship in Montpellier, the International Grand Prix tournaments and the 2023 European Championship.

Recall that at the end of February 2022, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) made an appeal to international sports federations and advised not to allow domestic and Belarusian athletes to participate in any competitions. For this reason, the ISU suspended Russian and Belarusian athletes from competitions indefinitely.
