Russian boxer Gassiev returns to Armenia after obtaining citizenship of the country

Russian boxer Murat Gassiev made an appeal and thanked Armenia for accepting the citizenship of this country.

“Thanks to Armenia for this kind of support, for the opportunity to return to major conflicts. I hope this opens new frontiers for me and gives me the opportunity to fight for the world title, ”explains Gassieva. “Sports Express”.

This morning, Marat Gassiev defeated US representative Mike Balagun in a title fight for the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title. The meeting held in Yerevan ended with a technical knockout in the second round.

On March 1, it was learned that Gassiev was a citizen of Armenia. The boxer said that he would not refuse to compete under the Russian flag.

Thus, Gassiev got 30 wins (23 knockouts) and one loss in a duel with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk in the fight for the title of absolute champion in 2018.

Gassiev fought his previous fight in Serbia against American Carlous Welch, and as a result of his victory, he won the EBP Eurasian heavyweight title.
