The president of Barcelona, one of those targeted in the meeting organized by the fans of the white team for tonight’s game.
Real Madrid will receive Barcelona this Thursday for the first leg of the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey 2023. For this match, the first Clásico since the outbreak of the ‘Negreira Case’, Real Madrid organized a meeting for fans.
The meeting has been held since 7:30 p.m. on Rafael Salgado Street, on the north side of the Santiago Bernabéu. The intention? Express his feelings after the “Negreira case”, for which there was no shortage of chants against Joan Laporta, president of Barcelona. “Laporta pay me,” chanted the fans of the merengue team.
There was also a flag reading “Corruption in the Federation” and 500 euro notes with Laporta’s face and the Barça shield. “Always stealing, Barca always stealing,” he said.
It should be recalled that the prosecution is investigating the payment of 1.4 million euros by the Blaugrana club to the former Vice President of the Technical Commission of Referees, José María Enríquez Negreira, between 2016 and 2018, when he was still in office.
Born in Barcelona in 1945, José María Enríquez Negreira is a former Spanish referee associated with the Catalan Federation who directed professional football matches for more than ten years, specifically from 1975 to 1992. As a referee, he spent a total of 13 seasons in First Division, while in his last active year, in 1991–92, he directed Second Division games.
LHe became a very popular referee in Primera. He refereed his first game at the age of 34 and made his debut very late, retiring at the age of 46. After retiring from his active career, in 1994 Negreira took the position of Vice President of the Technical Commission of Referees, a position he held until the end of the 2017–18 season.
