Hockey officer Andrey Safronov, who serves as the general manager of the capital Dynamo and the general manager of the Russian national team, spoke about the chances of Washington Capitals to enter the Stanley Cup.
“Why are they ending this season? They can fight, and I think they should. The team has a lot of experience, a strong leader. It’s too early to wipe Washington out of the run,” Safronov said in an interview with a socialbites.ca reporter.
The Capitals are sixth in the Capital Division with 64 points in 62 games, five points behind the second-place wild card Pittsburgh Penguins. At the same time, the capital club played two more matches.
In recent weeks, the management of the “capital” has made several exchanges, replacing some of the main roster players with other clubs. So, defender Dmitry Orlov and forward Garnett Hathaway were traded to the Boston Bruins, defender Erik Gustafsson to the Toronto Maple Leafs, and forward Marcus Johansson to the Minnesota Wild.
