The Pole will miss the duel in the Santiago Bernabéu.
Robert Lewandowski will be unable to play the first leg of the 2023 Copa del Rey semi-finals as Barcelona suffer a significant loss ahead of the Clásico with Real Madrid and the Whites get rid of a footballer who usually scores goals when measured to the merengue ensemble.
Why isn’t Lewandowski playing the Clásico Real Madrid vs. Barcelona of the 2023 Copa del Rey
Last Sunday, Lewandowski was injured during the match between the Culés and Almería and is a significant loss for the Barça team’s next matches, including the match they have to play at the Santiago Bernabéu on Thursday, March 2.
The Polish international striker suffers from hamstring problems and will therefore have to miss at least the first leg of the cup semi-final. It is fitting to remember that the ex-Bayern Munich’s first injury is treating the Barcelona T-shirt.
Real Madrid is a rival that Lewandowski is good at. In total, including games played against Borussia Dortmund, Bayern and Barcelona, the lanky attacker faced the Whites 10 times, scoring up to 7 goals and providing three assists.
With Barça he played the Clásico de Liga (an assist in the 3-1 defeat) and the one in the Spanish Super Cup (goal and assist in the 3-1 win). The balance of those 10 games is four wins, two draws and four losses.
In theory, depending on how his injury progresses, the Pole could be out for almost 15 days. Barça are confident they can count on Lewandowski for LaLiga second round Clásico to be played next March 19 at Camp Nou.
