A stunt assist from Russian defender Dmitry Orlov helped the Boston Bruins beat the Edmonton Oilers in a National Hockey League (NHL) regular season game.

The match played in Edmonton on 27 February ended with a 3:2 victory for the visiting team.

Orlov, who moved from Washington Capitals to Boston as a result of a trade a few days ago, got his first points in matches with his new team. He assisted Tomas Nosek and Nick Foligno in the first period. Pavel Zakha scored another goal for the winning team.

Edmonton’s duo became the league’s top scorer, Connor McDavid, scoring 50 goals in a single season for the first time in his career. He also has 79 assists this season.

It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Bruins. Boston suffered their sixth defeat in the last eight games of the regular season.

Orlov has been with Capitals since 2011. He won the Stanley Cup as part of the team in 2018. The player and the club were reportedly unable to agree on the length of the new contract and was traded to Boston as a result.

Washington Capitals reportedly offered Orlov a new three-year contract, in exchange for a six-year contract.

Gennady Kostylev, former coach of CSKA Moscow expressed confidence Russian midfielder Alexander said that Golovin should leave Monaco as soon as possible.
