The Brazilian midfielder faces a heavy penalty after he was sent off at Sevilla – Osasuna.
Fernando Reges will be low in Sevilla’s upcoming fixtures. The Brazilian was sent off on matchday 23 against Osasuna on February 26 for a straight red card and that exclusion could lead to several match sanctions.

The referee Pulido Santana sent Fernando off in minute 94 when he was already on the bench at the request of his fourth official, as explained in the minutes. “He was sent off in the 94th minute” for addressing “my number 1 assistant referee in these terms: ‘bastard, bastard, bastard, bastard’. Once sent off, he had to be restrained by members of his team , addressing me in the following terms: ‘bastard, you’re an asshole’”.
Now the Competition Committee has to review and impose the sanction that can be considered a serious offense as it contains insults and not just belittling, and impose a fine higher than normal which can be up to 4 matches.
Fernando himself issued an apology to the referee: “Yesterday was the first time since I went for the Sevilla FC. I was the wrong victim of nerves and tension of the moment. But even the helplessness I felt justifies my behavior. I want to apologize to the referee Juan Luis Pulido Santana and to the rest of the members of his team for my inappropriate words that in no way represent the deep respect I feel for the refereeing team, as well as for the valuable and complicated work they do in every game. I also want to apologize to my teammates, the coaching staff, the club, all the fans and especially all those who have me as an example, I’m really sorry. Anyone can be wrong and this Sunday I was definitely wrong. It is not the image to be given on a football field. I accept my mistake and can only say I’m sorry and my commitment to the Sevilla FC It is slightly larger today than yesterday. And that’s how I’ll try to prove it.”
Which matches would Fernando miss with Sevilla?
If the four match suspension is confirmed, Fernando would miss the matches against Atlético de Madrid at the Metropolitano, the one against Almería at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán and the visits to Getafe and Cádiz and would not make another appearance in LaLiga in Celta’s until April 9 visit to Nervion. In between, he could play the round of 16 of the UEFA Europa League against Fenerbahce, as his sanction does not affect European competitions.
