Former head coach of the Russian national football team Boris Ignatiev spoke about the prospects of striker Artem Dzyuba as part of Moscow Lokomotiv. The 34-year-old striker made his debut in official matches for the “rail” in the first match of the quarterfinals of the Russian Cup RPL Road, which ended in a 1-0 win against Spartak. Despite the defeat of the whites Lokomotiv, Ignatiev drew attention to Artem’s game and explained under what conditions there would be a real strengthening of the team.
“Dziuba has given hope that if the tactics of the game are adjusted to his abilities, the help from him will be significant. Good game for the first game. I think the fans enjoyed it. Probably can’t be approached here with the idea that these are spring games associated with a lot of technical flaws, a few high-speed manifestations. There was enough of everything here, the frost continued, not allowing them to stand and forcing people to show their qualities, Ignatiev told socialbites.ca.
Dzyuba signed a contract with Lokomotiv in February, his last club before that was Turkish Adana Demirspor, where the Russian striker played five matches and scored one goal. Dzyuba terminated his contract with Adana in November 2022.
