The Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the anti-doping disciplinary committee to find figure skater Kamila Valieva not guilty of a doping violation. It has been reported DEA News.

RUSADA is seeking CAS to reverse the contested decision and find the athlete guilty of anti-doping rule violation.

Recall that during the 2022 Olympics, a doping scandal broke out around the athlete. A banned substance was found in a sample that Valieva gave in December 2021. They wanted to remove him from participating in the Games. She eventually entered the women’s tournament and placed fourth. Prior to that, as part of the Russian national team, Valieva won a gold medal in the team tournament.

On January 13, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) announced that the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) notified her of the organization’s court decision to acquit Valieva, who was not guilty of violating its anti-doping rule. But the athlete was deprived of the gold medal of the Russian Championship in 2021.

On February 21, WADA appealed Valieva’s case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
