Olympic hockey champion, State Duma deputy Vyacheslav Fetisov, spoke emotionally about the International Olympic Committee (IOC) decision not to allow Russians to participate in international tournaments.
“What is happening to our athletes right now in international competitions – I think it’s a disgrace, it’s lawlessness.
Fetisov said that the IOC does not fully care about what is written in the Olympic Statutes and the policy documents of international sports federations. “Arguments and Facts”.
Recall that on January 25, the IOC announced that it is considering the possibility of admitting Russian athletes, who do not support the conduct of a special operation on the territory of Ukraine, to international competitions in a neutral status.
On February 10, it was reported that a group of 35 countries, including the USA, Germany and Australia, agreed at an online conference to demand the suspension of participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes in the 2024 Olympics. In addition, Western countries demanded an explanation for the determination of the neutrality status of the Russians.
