Alois Gadamchik, president of the Czech Ice Hockey Federation, told SKA St. Petersburg striker Dmitry Yashkin for supporting an action in honor of the Defender of the Fatherland Day in the regular season game of the Continental Hockey League (KHL) with Sochi (6:5 Overtime) and playing in a military-style uniform. Gadamchik’s words convey sports.cz.
“Morality is more than a sport and we must protect it. We have united with our government and will not allow players who work in the KHL to play for our national team. Morally we do not join the guys playing in Russia.
“We are not responsible for his actions and we can only decide that such a person cannot represent our country at this time.”
Recall that SKA made an exchange with Dynamo Moscow and got the right to a Czech striker of Russian origin (hockey player was born in Omsk). Yashkin signed a one-year contract with Army Men until April 30, 2023. This transfer caused outrage in the hometown of the hockey player.
Before moving to Dynamo in 2019, Yashkin worked in St. He played in the NHL for Louis and Washington. He became the top scorer in the KHL regular season with 38 goals in the 2020/21 season. Yashkin spent the 2021/22 season playing for Arizona in the NHL.
