Captain of TM Benidorm, Carlos GrauHe will be retiring from professional handball practice this Saturday after the match against Blendio Sinfín in Palau, as announced by the Benidorm foundation this Thursday.

Grau, the only player remaining in the team since his first season with Asobal, left handball after he could not bring it into line with his professional activity.

In front of his fans and after Saturday’s game against the Cantabrian team, where the 36-year-old had been considering the possibility of retiring from handball for some time, It will end a 20-year career.

Founded in Benidorm youth academy, Grau played a total of 363 matches in the Asobal League, which was distributed between Benidorm team, Altea, Puerto de Sagunto and Huesca, and scored 756 goals, 438 of which were scored with his current team.

“It has been a real pleasure to finish my professional sports career here in my city Benidorm and with my people,” the captain said.

“There have been many good years in which we have overcome great difficulties. and reach all goals with Benidorm Handball Club. I stay and take everyone I can share the locker room with and pass by. They became good comrades and best friends”, commented Carlos Grau.

The club wished its captain “luck” in the new professional stage and showed confidence that their paths would cross again with “other common goals”.
