José Luis Gayà, injured at Valencia CF: what does he have, how long will he be out and which games will he miss?
About 10 minutes into the second half the bad news came for Valencia CF. And it is at that moment that José Luis Gayá fell to the ground, visibly in pain. The 27-year-old had serious problems supporting his damaged right ankle after a Getafe player fell on top of the left-back.
It was clear, although he would try to prove if he could continue, that the captain would have to leave the field. Gayà indeed tried to continue on the field, but failed. Instead, Rubén Baraja had to send Toni Lato off. Gabriel Paulista inherited the bracelet.
It is premature to know what injury Gayà has (on Tuesday he will undergo medical tests), but his loss could be very important for a team playing to stay in the rest of the season. Not only in football, but especially from an emotional point of view. Losing the captaincy during some matches can be a hard blow to those from Mestalla.
The following fixtures of Valencia CF are as follows: Real Sociedad at home, FC Barcelona away, Osasuna at home, Atlético de Madrid away, Rayo Vallecano at home and Almería away.
