Valencia CF is one of the biggest clubs in Spain and Europe. The Ché club has won leagues, Copas del Rey, Spanish Super Cups, European Super Cups, Fairs Cups and UEFA Cups. His palmares is only missing the Champions League, which he reached in two finals, against Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. There is no doubt that Valencia CF is one of the most traditional clubs in Spain. In fact, the Ché club was only relegated to the Second Division once.

The only time the Ché side lost the category and dropped down to the Second Division was in the 1985–86 season. In that season, Valencia finished in 17th place in the First Division, forcing them to play in the Second Division in the 1987–88 season. The Ché team completed its relegation by finishing with only 25 points and 24 negative points, while the championship had 18 teams in the First Division and was played with two points for each victory. The club went down that year, surpassing only Hércules and Celta at the table, who also lost the category. Naturally, Valencia CF recovered the category the following year. Valencia completed its only relegation in April 1986
Valencia lost to Barcelona at the Camp Nou (3–0) on 12 April 1986, and a day later Cádiz and Betis equalized Ramón de Carranza, saving Cádiz from the fire. On the last day, Luis Casanova received exactly the team from Cádiz. Valencia beat him, but it was too late.
