Alexander Ovechkin, captain of the National Hockey League (NHL) “Washington Capitals” club, shared his memories of playing in the same team with Sergei Fedorov.
Fedorov played for the “capital” in 2008-2009.
“He was my idol. I got a sample from him when I was a kid. In 2008 we had to share the same dressing room, I had the opportunity to listen to their stories and absorb their experiences.
He always said: “Enjoy the moment, because time will fly by.” And I said, “Come on, I have more time”. But time really flies, now I am already 37 years old.
He’s just an outstanding person. Everyone in the capitals learned a lot from him, both in terms of hockey and in life, ”says Ovechkin Athletic.
Ovechkin missed his last three Capitals games in the NHL due to his father’s death. Without the Russians, the team lost twice to the Carolina Hurricanes and once to the Florida Panthers.
Washington’s next meeting will be against Detroit on February 22.
The 37-year-old Russian player has recorded 32 goals and 22 assists in 54 games this season. Ovechkin has scored 812 goals in his NHL career and is second on the all-time top scorer list.
