The regular season game between Minnesota Wild and Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL) has come to an end. The match, which was held at the Excel Energy Center stadium in St. Paul, ended with Florida’s 2:1 victory in penalty shootout.
In the third minute of the second twenty-minute period, Florida forward Eetu Luostarinen opened the score. Two minutes later, Russian forward Kirill Kaprizov equalized on the scoreboard. Mats Zuccarello and Kalen Addison helped. The match did not reveal the winning teams before it went into overtime. Everything became clear in the shootout, when the winning goal was scored by Florida forward Alexander Barkov.
Thus, Minnesota ranks seventh in the NHL Western Conference standings, with 61 points in 53 games. Florida is 10th in the East with 60 points from 56 games.
Minnesota will next face the reigning Stanley Cup champion Colorado Avalanche. The meeting will take place on February 16. The day before Florida, St. Louis will play the Blues.
