Mahachev turns to Australian fans: I’ll have to upset you

Russian Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter Islam Makhachev addresses Australian fans before his fight with Alex Volkanovski.

“Perth, I spent 20 days here, I like you. But I’ll have to upset you tomorrow. Thank you,” Makhachev said at a press conference.

Makhachev is the current UFC lightweight champion. If successful, he would earn the belt in the two weight divisions as Volkanovski retains the featherweight title. Makhachev has 23 wins and one loss in his professional career.

Volkanovski secured a landslide victory over American Max Holloway in his final fight at UFC 276 in the summer of 2022, defending his title for the fourth time.

Zubaira Tukhugov, previously Russian mixed martial artist (MMA) failed in weighing Brazilian Elwes Brenner will give 30% of the price to his opponent before the fight against Oliveira.

The fight between Tukhugov and Oliveira will take place on the night of February 12 at the UFC-284 tournament in Perth, Australia, Moscow time.
