Russia fell from 18th to 23rd in the 2022/2023 season ranking of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It has been reported official site organizations.
In the last five years, Russian clubs have accumulated 21,882 points. At the same time, Russia remained without points for this season. This was despite the UEFA Executive Committee’s decision announced on 2 May that it should have been the country’s lowest score of 4,333 points, ie the coefficients scored in the last five seasons.
Thus, if Russia got the promised points, they would have 26,215 points in their account. In this case, the country would remain in 18th place in the ranking.
Recall that in the spring of 2022, the International Football Federation (FIFA) and UEFA decided to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
On January 24, a meeting between representatives of the Russian Football Union (RFU) and UEFA was held in Nyon, Switzerland. The parties agreed on the procedure for further cooperation on the return of Russian clubs and teams to international tournaments, and an agreement was reached to continue cooperation.
High-level representatives of FIFA and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will attend the new meeting.
