Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James beat Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to set a new National Basketball Association (NBA) career point record.
The 38-year-old American player beat former Lakers forward Abdul-Jabbar’s record (38387 points) in his home game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Now James has 38390 points for his career in the NBA. It’s worth noting that due to James’ possible record, ticket prices for this game reached $100,000.
The match was interrupted to pay homage to the basketball player right after the record-breaking throw. During the break, the athlete’s family, league commissioner Adam Silver, and 75-year-old Abdul-Jabbar, who symbolically handed basketball to LeBron, took the field.
Despite James’ record, Los Angeles lost 130-133 in that game. LeBron was the game’s top scorer with 38 points.
