There is a positive course in the relations between the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and the Russian Football Union (RFU). It has been reported “Match TV”.
According to the source, UEFA’s attitude towards Russia has changed, so the RFU is ready for dialogue. It was noted that the parties discussed the return of youth and women’s football to tournaments under the auspices of UEFA, but have not yet reached a final decision.
The meeting, with the participation of the Russian side and UEFA, was held in Switzerland on January 24. The RFU said that the parties agreed on a procedure for further cooperation on the return of Russian teams and clubs to international tournaments and agreed to maintain contacts.
The new meeting will be attended by senior representatives of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Recall that in the spring of 2022 FIFA and UEFA decided to exclude the Russian national team and all Russian clubs from participation in all competitions controlled by these organizations.
In early January, the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) finally dismissed the Russian side’s appeal. Domestic clubs and the national team missed the whole of 2022.
Oleg Romantsev, former coach of Spartak Moscow saidWhat he thinks about the words of the head coach of the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, about the possible transfer of the RFU to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
