Khimki’s former head coach, Sergei Juran, has called for a search of Russian defenders after Croatia’s Dejan Lovren left Zenit. The defender moved to Lyon.

“Let’s take care of our Russian defenders. Why do we immediately shout – missing or not. Don’t we have a Russian player? Let’s watch out for the Russians. Lovren, 33, leaves – immediately panic? Let’s show some self love. There is no Luxembourg or Switzerland, there is Russia. We need to give a prejudice to our players,” said Juran. “Championship”.

Lovren has been at Zenit from Liverpool since 2020. Together with the blue-white-blue, he twice won the Russian championship. His contract with the Petersburgers is calculated until the summer of 2023.

The Croatian defender has made 15 appearances in the Russian Premier League (RPL) this season, scoring one goal and one assist.

Recall that at the end of the World Cup in Qatar, the Croat was involved in a scandal. He, along with his partners, enthusiastically celebrated the bronze medal of the tournament. At the semi-final victory party, Lovren sang Nazi songs and showed the Ustashe salute (representatives of a fascist nationalist organisation).

Formerly Sergey Tashuev Dejan Lovren named best RPL player of 2022.
