Whoever was the captain of the Cacique left popular discipline to go to Europe.
After 223 official games, 10 goals and 9 titles (3 leagues, 3 cups and 3 super cups), Gabriel Suazo left Colo Colo, a club he eventually captained and where he went from an ill-considered player to a fixture on the left, flying in the tournament and the Copa Libertadores.
Suazo left crying, dressed in a Pet Shop Boys t-shirt, with the hug of his teammates and that of the officials of the club he defended for 16 years. After not renewing his contract, and without a clear destination, he experienced his last day at the Monumental on December 29, 2022.
Olympiakos and Galatasaray have shown concrete interest in recent weeks, but the second club in Suazo Urbina’s career has not yet been determined. Since he goes free, he doesn’t leave any money in Macul.
WHY DID HE LEAVE?
The left-hander believes that he has reached the ceiling with his training institute and that after 13 matches with the national team he cannot give an advantage to his personal development. Suazo has been called to play the 2026 World Cup qualifiers as a key part of La Roja’s kit and wants to do so in an internationally renowned squad.
