RUSADA disagreed with WADA’s accusations in Valieva’s case

Veronika Loginova, Director General of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA), said she disagreed with the World Anti-Doping Agency’s (WADA) accusations of delaying the trial in the case of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva.

“We do not agree with the claim that RUSADA did not hold the hearings on time. We have the right to public disclosure and will return to this issue when the final decision on the case is made. RUSADA did not delay the processing of the results at any stage. The investigation was conducted within a reasonable time, in collaboration with the WADA Investigations Department,” Loginova says. Valieva passed a positive doping test at the Russian Championship held in December 2021, but the test result became known in the middle of the 2022 Games in China. The CAS visiting delegation decided to accept the skater for individual competitions, but due to the excitement he was experiencing, he could not cope with the free program and only finished fourth.

WADA had previously appealed to CAS after the Russian Anti-Doping Organization (RUSADA) decision to classify all information pertaining to the investigation into the Valieva case. The athlete faces a four-year disqualification. Also, in the team competition at the Beijing Olympics, where Valieva won a gold medal as part of the Russian team, the results of the Russians could be canceled.
