Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Vadim Nemkov tried to defend the light heavyweight title in the Bellator 277 tournament in a fight against Corey Anderson in American San Jose.
In the first round, the opponents chose a waiting tactic, and in the second, the Russians surrendered their positions, allowing Anderson to control what was going on in the octagon.
The fight ended in the third round after the American used a forbidden technique: in one of the episodes, Anderson hit Nemkov in the head, which resulted in a cut in the Russian’s left eyebrow.
Thus, Nemkov did not receive the main prize – a million dollars.
In the main event of the evening, American fighter AJ McKee will defend the featherweight title against Brazilian Patricio Freire.
Nemkov represents the team of Fedor Emelianenko. Former Bellator President Scott Cocker saidWhere Emelianenko’s farewell fight could take place.
It is worth noting that Nemkov had 16 fights, 14 of which ended in victories. In his last match in October 2021, Nemkov defeated Lithuanian Julius Englikas in the fourth round of the Bellator 268 tournament and defended the light heavyweight belt.
