MMA fighter Maxim Novoselov, 49, was sentenced to five years in a strict regime colony by the Tushinsky Court in Moscow for the rape of an 18-year-old girl.
The athlete was detained in March after a party where he met two girls at the Ruki Vverh nightclub in Mytishchi.
Later, the victim called the police saying that she and her friend were abducted by a group of men. She also told the police that she was sexually assaulted.
As a result, the fighter was first arrested for two months, after which his stay in the detention center was extended to six months.
At the hearing, the prosecutor demanded a six-year prison sentence in the strict regime colony for Novoselov, while the defense demanded the acquittal of the athlete only because the victim’s testimony, which was also refuted by examinations, was used as evidence of guilt. case.
As a result, the court ruled against Novoselov and will now spend the next five years behind bars.
For Novoselov, this is not his first or even his second prison experience. He is believed to have joined the criminal world in the early 90’s and was sentenced to 14 years in prison in 1993 for murder.
And in 2012, Novoselov was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for patronizing the drug business.
By this time, he was already a fairly well-known fighter. He started to participate in underground wars even before his first term, continued this in prison and started his professional career after he was released on parole.
