Multiple Olympic champion Alexander Bolshunov commented on the results of the roller sprint in the 3rd stage of the Cup of Russia – 2022/2023.
“Well, did the bags beat the Olympic champion today? First the bags made him champion and now they beat him. Everything is great. The race went great, ”explains Bolshunov “Championship”.
Also, Bolshunov did not miss the opportunity to note that Ustyugov was better prepared for this race than for the Olympic Games and World Championships, because he was not there.
Today Bolshunov became the winner of the roller sprint. He was 32.2 seconds ahead of Denis Spitsov, who finished second. Third place was Ilya Semikov (56.5 seconds). Sergei Ustyugov finished the race in 7th place, more than a minute behind.
Recall that Sergei Ustyugov became the Olympic champion in 2022 as part of the men’s relay team. This Olympic medal was the first and only for the 30-year-old skier. Bolshunov has only three Olympic gold medals (skiathlon, relay and 50km freestyle), as well as four silver and two bronze medals.
