Postiguet beach will host “Alicante SUP Open APP Tour”Paddle surfing test as part of the APP World Tour, the world championship of this sport. The competition will run from next Friday to Sunday and will be the penultimate stage of the circuit, which runs through Santa Monica (USA), London, Busan (South Korea) and Paris and ends in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia). Organized by this test Parres Sports Club and was introduced by the Alicante City&Beach Tourist Board. Mari Carmen Sánchez, Deputy Mayor of Alicante and Chairman of the City&Coast Tourism Board, highlighted the fact that the city “is the scene of one of the world championship events that has put us on the international paddleboarding map”. “Alicante has the most suitable infrastructure and climate to host international sporting events that support sports tourism and influence the seasonality we seek as a destination.”

In addition, the tests have parallel activities for paddleboarding initiation, musical performances, and the entertainment and restaurant area. In this sense, the vice mayor encouraged “Alicantinos and visitors to come to Postiguet beach this weekend to enjoy the sports show and spend a day of sports and fun with family or friends”.

The organizer of the event, Daniel Parres, thanked the Tourist Board for their “support in making an event with these features”. He also pointed out that Alicante has features that will bring water sports closer to the whole world and that holding this international event is a good way to do that and promote the city on the circuit.

Athletes from more than 15 countries will participate in the event, these include the USA, Peru, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, France, Italy, Hungary and Belgium. Moreover, It will feature the presence of Australian commentator Travis Grant, an athlete who has won one of the toughest SUP Race tests, the Molokai Oahu, four times.

Complementary activities

During the three-day sports competitions, a series of activities will take place parallel to the competitions. The association organizes the APP Pool, a giant swimming pool that provides an entry point for those new to the sport and space for other activities such as SUP Yoga and Pilates.

On the other hand, the event has an entertainment area and a restaurant area organized by Solé Rototom Beach, where both “riders” and visitors can enjoy the music and city culture.

Flamenco company Pura Sangre, which will be replaced by Urban Corner (Loca Fm Murcia) DJs, will take the stage on Friday, December 9th. On Saturday 10th, a day dedicated to music and urban art, graffiti artists will repeat with an art symposium by Ikon, Best and Tom Rock.
