President of Iberdrola, Ignacio Galan, This afternoon he was responsible for presenting the Iberdrola Supera Awards for promoting equality through sport for a total of €300,000, which will serve to make the winning projects in each of the six categories a reality.
Iberdrola has been the main supporter of women’s sports in Spain since 2016. It supports 32 National Federations promoting more than 600,000 federated women, 2 out of every 3 federated women, and has more than 100 competitions entitled to name Iberdrola, including 32 leagues.
Commenting on the awards, Galán said, “The company embodies its comprehensive commitment to equality, by accompanying girls and women to achieve their dreams through sport. Just as a building needs the best foundations possible, the athletes of the future deserve the best support. Actions like today, in the future.” It is the path to success and provides visibility into initiatives ranging from the practice of grassroots sports to high competition, including the inclusion of athletes or the more social sphere of sport such as mental health care”.
Jury of Honor consisting of Susanna Griso, Sonsoles Ónega, Eli Pinedo, Ona Carbonell, Amanda Sampedro, Carolina Marín, Javier Fernández, Jesús Carballo, Manu Carreño, Marta Arce, Paloma del Río, Sandra Sánchez, Silvia Navarro, Teresa Perales and Bosque argued for days to explain his decision.
Hosted by journalist Aurora González, with the addition of illusionist Jorge Luengo and singer Luz Casal, with the participation of Supreme Sports Council President José Manuel Franco, the winners learned the decision; María Victoria Cabezas, general secretary of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Miguel Carballeda, president of the Spanish Paralympic Committee; Sofia Miranda, Delegate of the Madrid City Council Councilor for Sports; representatives of the 32 National Sports Federations sponsored by the company; and numerous Iberdrola Ambassadors such as Carolina Marín (badminton), Ona Carbonell (synchronous swimming) or Teresa Perales (swimming) among others.
The awards ceremony put the finishing touches on the third edition, which featured 600 entries and made festively visible today the company’s role in championing equality through the practice of sports. Prizes of 300,000 Euros in total will award 50,000 Euros to each of the winning projects, programs or initiatives in six categories:
-“Super Base”, To promote grassroots sports among girls up to the age of 16 who fall into the Getxo (Basque Country) Skating and Skating and Roller Hockey Sports Club in order to make its infrastructure competitive.
-“Super Competition”, Helping Club Deportivo Pingüinos Rugby de Burgos (Castilla y León) promote to Division B of Honor and make rugby a reference sport for all women and girls in the State, helping to include women in the competition.
-“Over-Inclusiveness”, For the inclusion of women with special abilities in the practice of sports, which Delikia Sports Club has succeeded in promoting the practice of athletics in youth with disabilities through training in schools, associations and medical societies in Galicia.
-“Super Social”, will promote the integration of women into society through sports and will help Algeciras Rowing Club (Andalusia) recruit women who have beaten breast cancer with the rowing team.
-“Super Diffusion”, She was awarded the ExtTV channel’s documentary series “Conquistadoras” for her project that tells the stories of athletes, clubs and federations in a way that is worth knowing, valuing and remembering in order to make women’s sports visible.
-“Super Mental Health”as a novelty, this edition “rewarding mental health care in the field of sport” fell into Affit’s project “Train your wings” for the implementation of a sports program at the Treatment Training Unit of the Castellón Provincial Hospital. and for the development of adolescents through increased hours of physical activity.
