Two-time Ballon d’Or winner Alexia Putellas presented the documentary series ‘Alexia: Labor Omnia Vincit’ (Alexia: Work always wins). It is a work about his last months in Barcelona and he tells about the conflict he is currently experiencing with 14 teammates from the national team, on the pulse of the coach Jorge Vilda and the Spanish Federation.
“We have to fight so that everything is professional and we can only focus on playing, performing and winning. The football profession is just that. We also do it for those who come. We hope he has 100% energy to play football.”
Alexia raises her voice and goes further: “For years I’ve been thinking about playing in the Champions League, European Cup, World Cup and Olympic Games. You stop and think and see that no circumstances are worth playing in the Eurocup. And we don’t just want to play, we want to go and win.” An argument that overlaps with the argument used by football players who gave up on going to the national team and again pointing to Jorge Vilda as the main problem.
This three-part series begins with Barcelona breaking attendance records in a women’s football match against Real Madrid and Wolfsburg at the Camp Nou in the last Champions League. He then reviews the season with azulgrana and ends with a final loss in Turin and a serious injury that prevented Alexia from playing in the Euro Cup.
