The International Fencing Federation (FIE) Congress has decided to extend the suspension of Russian athletes from international competitions held under the auspices of the organization until March 2023.

At the end of February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) issued a call to international sports federations, recommending that Russian and Belarusian athletes not be allowed to participate in any competitions. Many events with the participation of foreign athletes were transferred from Russia.
