The rise of chess in the state is greater than has been confirmed in recent yearsImportant places in the national tournaments of the modality, where Alicante clubs managed to declare themselves champions. But something was missing to promote this sport more, promoting competitiveness among practitioners. To this end, Promochess was born, a company dedicated to the promotion of chess.

First regular “league”

This is the I Promochess Provincial Chess Circuit, which has the support of the Alicante Provincial Assembly and the municipalities of Elche, Crevillent, Guardamar, Alicante, Rojales and Monforte del Cid. The Dama de Guardamar Chess School and the San Alberto Magno de Monforte School also cooperate.

This initiative will serve to celebrate seven tournaments by June of next year. The first event will be this Sunday morning at the Luis Vives School in Elche, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. and that it is one of the few centers in Spain where chess is the subject. “At this school they are very dedicated to promoting the sport and wanted to be the first venue to open a country track with more than a hundred players as they celebrate their 50th anniversary.” International Chess Federation Marcos García is the sporting director of Promochess, who also organizes it.

Various categories

Over a hundred registered for this first datewill be divided into several categories. “The purpose of these tournaments is to be open so that anyone of any age and experience in the game can participate,” says Marcos García, to make the games more even, “the participants will be divided into several categories to separate them from other categories, such as unified or adults, like schoolchildren from the first to third year of primary school. We also don’t want those attending their first tournament to have a traumatic experience, but instead want them to be able to compete.”.

Next, I Provincial Chess Floor will be taken to other locations such as: In the second phase, the Nuestra Señora del Carmen school in Monforte del Cid, Rojales, Guardamar, Matola-Elche, Crevillent and Alicante. The closing day will be held at the Jesús María de Asís school in Alicante, where the ASSSA Enric Valor Club is located.

Players will be able to participate in one, several or all tournaments, as this will add accumulated points. There will be cash prizes and gifts, both at each of the appointments and at the end of the entire championship. Total, More than 6,000 Euros will be distributed.

Among the goals of this first regular and Alicante chess competition are “to provide visibility where this sport is absent” and to value its practice.
