Sports commentator Gennady Orlov criticized Leonid Fedun, the owner of Moscow Spartak, asserting that he does not truly grasp football.

These remarks echoed Fedun’s prior statement that the Russian Premier League is closely tied to a team’s championship prospects.

“If that is the case, why did Spartak finish tenth rather than second? Fedun seems to lack depth in football knowledge. He does not fully understand the game, and with the amount of money he has invested in Spartak over the years, he could have learned something by now.

When a team lacks a clear playing style, coaches can change year after year. So what does this say about the club? Critics argue that much of Spartak’s approach has strayed from traditional football principles,” Orlov stated on Pair TV.

In the last season, Zenit from Saint Petersburg clinched the league title, marking the club’s fourth consecutive trophy in the national competition. Sochi secured second place, with Dynamo Moscow taking bronze.

Spartak finished the season in tenth place. Nonetheless, Vanoli’s squad managed to win the Russian Cup, overcoming Dynamo Moscow in the final with a 2-1 victory—a success that contrasted with their league form.

Earlier, Fedun clarified his comments about the pressure surrounding Luca Cattani, the head coach of Paolo Vanoli in red and the club’s sporting director, noting the decision to continue their work in Russia was made after careful consideration.
