Dmitry Medvedev, serving as Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, spearheaded the creation of a versatile portal called I am in Russia. The portal is designed to inform residents who have relocated to newly incorporated regions about the benefits and allowances available to them and to streamline the challenges they face in accessing those benefits. The initiative emerged from a policy discussion at the General Council meeting of the United Russia party, where Medvedev currently holds a leadership role.
According to the law, residents in these new regions are eligible for pensions, child allowances, free medical care, and access to all standard benefits and subsidies. They were presented with new support programs previously unavailable to them. Yet, as stated by the official, these rights must be transformed from theoretical entitlements into tangible, everyday realities for people living there.
Medvedev also proposed leveraging the portal to assist residents in locating missing relatives and to coordinate search efforts within the newly integrated territories. The platform would serve as a hub for connected activities, supporting communications and coordination among families and local authorities.
Medvedev emphasized that the portal could unite organizations ready to assist residents in need across the new areas. He noted the existence of numerous regional and local entities, as well as businesses, that already deliver support services. In addition, humanitarian and volunteer networks could play a significant role in delivering timely help and resources to those who require them.
Former Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Tatyana Golikova referenced the May decrees on salaries for state employees and their implementation in the new regions, underscoring the ongoing process of aligning compensation with expanded territorial responsibilities and ensuring that public sector workers in the newly added areas receive appropriate remuneration.
