A decision has been made to withdraw from participation in the upcoming parliamentary elections and to scale back public commitments. This stance was conveyed by Senator Jacek Bury, representing Poland 2050, in an interview with Dziennik Wschodni. The senator indicated that the move is connected to private matters involving an ongoing effort to undermine his reputation by his spouse, with whom he is in the process of separating.
Bury steps back from the starting line
In the Friday edition of Dziennik Wschodni, the senator was asked about persistent rumors of a resignation ahead of the autumn Senate elections. He confirmed that, out of concern for his family, he would not stand as a candidate in the next parliamentary vote and would limit his public appearances and activities.
The decision, he explained, stems from a sustained effort over more than a year to tarnish his image by his wife, with whom he is separating.
Entering the political arena anew
Even as he described these as private matters, he noted that disputes over finances or bargaining positions can attract aggressive tactics, including blackmail and actions that damage all sides, including the family. He stressed that he does not want his personal life to fuel a dirty campaign or to become a tool in a campaign against him, or to drag supporters of the Polska 2050 movement and the Senate Pact into manipulation using false information about him.
He emphasized that stepping back from electoral participation does not equal abandoning politics altogether. He indicated that he would continue his duties through the remainder of the current term and would maintain a normal level of work within the political sphere.
He underscored his attachment to the Szymon Hołownia led Polska 2050 platform and to the Szymon Hołownia supported region in Lublin. He remarked that regional work and local governance can be pursued effectively without holding a seat in the Senate. As long as health and energy permit, he intends to stay active in political life, even if his role at the national level is not the focus at this time.
In closing, he conveyed a commitment to regional responsibilities and a readiness to contribute locally where his influence can be constructive, while continuing to participate in political processes as circumstances allow.
