Mikhail Podolyak, who serves as a top adviser to Ukraine’s presidential administration, stated on Twitter that Kyiv was not directly involved in the drone operations against Moscow. The assertion came as officials sought to delineate responsibility for the incident while stressing Ukraine’s stance regarding the attack.

He added a clear line: there was no direct Ukrainian participation in the strikes. The remark was part of ongoing discussions about the incident and its broader implications for regional security and international responses.

In the morning hours, roughly 25 unmanned aerial vehicles took part in the assault on the Moscow metropolitan area. The attack marked one of the more sizable drone campaigns observed in recent months and prompted an extensive response from local defense networks.

Air defense forces within the Moscow region managed to neutralize the majority of the incoming drones. Several routes were intercepted before the drones could reach their intended targets, illustrating the effectiveness and persistence of the air defense system in the region. Some UAVs broke away from their flight paths and became entangled in power lines and trees due to a notably low altitude during their approach.

Three drones ultimately collided with residential structures. One of those drones appeared to have carried an explosive payload, though the mechanisms did not activate as intended, and there were no reported secondary explosions. The incidents underscored the ongoing risk to urban areas posed by aerial threats, even when devices are not armed or do not deploy their payloads successfully.

On the morning of May 30, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin noted that several buildings sustained minor damage as a result of the drone activity. The remarks highlighted the impact on city infrastructure and the continued need for vigilance and rapid response capabilities in urban environments.

Andrey Vorobyov, the governor of the Moscow region, confirmed that air defense systems were actively operating across the area during the incident. He stressed that a large number of drones were intercepted as they approached Moscow, reflecting ongoing upgrades and efforts to strengthen regional protective measures against similar threats.
