With enthusiasm and desire. Also, with the prudence that such charges should be accepted. Being part of a government like Botànic is a significant challenge and not easy. I’m entering the final stage of the legislature, but that doesn’t mean I can’t follow my colleagues’ work in areas like the digital divide, innovation or technology. I will try to leave a trace of the policy that I have implemented so far.
«We strive to ensure that no citizen in innovation is left behind on a digital level because of gender or social issues»
Innovation has a very distinct social component and a lot of work is being done to ensure that no one falls behind in the digital realm…
I come from the parliamentarism side, I have been working in the Administration for seven years and anyone who follows me can see that my idea is to bring institutions closer to the citizen. Technical, scientific and technological issues come to mind when innovation is mentioned, and it is clear that we need to stand by this sector. But I also want to focus on issues such as ensuring that no citizen is digitally left behind because of gender, social or economic issues. We must not forget that we live in an emergency.
What do you mean by that?
That there are feminist, climatic or energy emergencies that cause families to lose their purchasing power and lead to a new economic crisis. We do not want to repeat previous models of government in which the people and the needy classes were the ones who paid the most for the crisis. To deal with all these emergencies, we must go hand in hand with technology. Because it surrounds us, it should be brought closer to people’s daily lives.
The ministry is working to have Alicante host the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Headquarters…
Yes, we are working on that at Innovation and Botànic. We have such support as the support of the mayor of Valencia. We have very clear. On other political options, such as the PP, they have varying views. The regional government is committed to decentralization and the south of the Valencian Community. For us Alicante residents, sometimes Valencia is too far away. That doesn’t stop us from feeling part of the Government. We now have a strong project on hand with the AI proposal.
Minister Josefina Bueno is very clear that Innovation must continue to dominate in Alicante, do you agree?
One of the aspects that made me say yes to this position is that the Ministry is in Alicante. Decentralizing the Generalitat is essential so that the people of Alicante feel that Palau belongs to them. The province has many arguments for being an innovation pole like our industrial potential. I’m from Elche and I know the digitization challenges that shoes are currently facing, for example.
Do you think the options to renew Botànic next year are through a harmonizing PSPV and Accords?
The Generalitat will not have a progressive government unless it joins hands with the forces that compose it now. Monocolor disappeared and society became plural. So we need to work on this pluralism. Botànic worked well. This is evidenced by the unemployment figures, the reduction of barracks, free textbooks, dining room scholarships… Coexistence at Botànic is good, but Compromís must continue to step into the progressive accelerator.
One area where more divergences emerge is fiscal policy.
They can’t be distracted by the tax issue. There is a regional funding issue and we will not allow Valencians to be robbed in Compromise. We have to stand up for our rights because we deserve the same as others: health, education, basic services declining due to the pandemic. When a politician from the community reaches Congress, he must continue to defend our finances above partisan goals. .
“The good news is that Baldoví has come to the fore. He is an honest and brave man and defends Valencian interests »
How do you evaluate Joan Baldovi’s decision to participate in the Compromís primaries?
The good news is that Baldoví has taken this step. He is an honest and courageous man who shows that when he needs to take a step he does it. He is on the side of the Valencians and will do everything possible to protect the Botànic Government. He showed a lot in Congress, where he 100% defended the interests of the community. And it is well known throughout the country as a whole.
“At Elche, consensus was not possible. The Initiative chose to talk about the numbers that touched it in the lists »
Do you intend to top the list of Compromís in Elche?
Més from my party, we are in a period of reflection. Given that it’s the best for the current social moment, we’ve made a bet on reaching compromise lists. This was not possible because the Initiative preferred to mention the numbers that touched it in the lists. When this is done, we need to calibrate which project we want for Elche and we will decide whether to present ourselves to the primaries shortly in this key. Competition prevailed over consensus.
what is your current relationship More and Mireia Molla?
It is the relationship of the coalition partners. They are from the Initiative and I am from Més. I have great admiration for all young women who dare to take part in politics. Our job is harder, they judge us more than the typical gentleman or self-employed person who has done the same thing his whole life. They are two references of Compromís in the state. Aitana Mas has also shown that she can go one step further when the project is asked of her. You’re doing very well as vice president, she.
