No family or company can escape the cost of two events that have shaped the world in the last two and a half years: covid and the war in Ukraine. But while nothing is the same as before March 2020, Valencians are optimistic and the majority believe the Valencian Community is better than it was four years ago.

The epidemic and the increase in prices do not reduce the optimism of the citizens

The survey by Gesop for INFORMATION, Levante-EMV and Mediterráneo reveals that 42.9% of citizens think the general situation of the Valencian Community has improved compared to 2019. Representing 13.9%, 37.3% say the situation is more negative.

The majority impression is that the Valencian Community is developing for the better and the citizens with a better perception are the youngest. While the current situation is more positive for approximately 56% of those interviewed between the ages of 18-29, 27.8% think otherwise. As the age range progresses, the discouragement grows larger, and the most common view among those over 60 is that the situation is getting worse. While this is the opinion of 39.2% of this group, the rate of those who think that the changes are getting better is 36.4%. On the other hand, 18.4% said that the Valencia region continues exactly the same. The youngest respondents are the ones who argue that the situation has changed for the better, and interesting results emerge when the data is analyzed on a provincial basis. Valencia residents say that autonomy is improving for the better (46.6%), followed by Alicante (38.8%) and Castellón (38.3%). Moreover, the difference between those who think that the situation is better in Alicante and those who argue the opposite is very small.

Those on the right are more pessimistic

The answers of the interviewees differ slightly depending on their political preferences. Therefore, those who think that the general situation is developing well are mostly Compromis, Unides Podemos and PSPV voters. The most optimistic are supporters of the Valencia formation, as seven out of ten say the current situation is better.

On the opposite end are Vox voters. The Community got worse for 77.2% of respondents, compared to 59% for PP supporters. Just over half of those who support Ciudadanos now think it’s even worse.
