We will build a system that will be the state’s response to disinformation, Stanisław Żaryn, the government’s proxy for information space security, told PAP. As he emphasized, disinformation activities, mainly led by Russia, should be treated as a threat to the state.
At the same time, the Prime Minister appointed him Government Plenipotentiary for the Security of the Information Space of the Republic of Poland.
In an interview with PAP, the newly appointed secretary of state explained that in the prime minister’s chancellery, he would still be responsible for working with the coordinating minister as his deputy.
In particular, I will coordinate the analytical and informational activities of the secret services
He explained.
State response to disinformation
As he recalled, the second post to which he was appointed was established on 11 August under the arrangement of the Council of Ministers.
My main task will be to coordinate activities that serve to identify information threats i.e. disinformation activities, impact operations and various types of aggressive activities in the use of information
– emphasized Żaryn.
The goal is to build a system for recognizing and neutralizing these types of threats.
It will be a system that is supposed to be the state’s response to disinformation
– He said.
A threat to the state
The plenipotentiary for information space security emphasized that the government wanted to strengthen the activities of the Ministry of National Security over the past two years. In his opinion, it is necessary because of the threats currently identified.
We can clearly see that the disinformation actions mainly carried out by the Russian Federation against Poland are something that should be treated as a threat to the state. These threats have increased and intensified significantly in recent months
– underlines the State Secretary.
Of course we have a number of institutions in Poland that are engaged in such activities, but we want to rethink it all and build a system that will coordinate the efforts that have been made so far.
Żaryn explained.
