An ambitious budget is possible and now necessary to protect against Russian aggression, Polish government spokesman Piotr Müller said. He added that the draft 2023 budget foresees an increase in military spending to more than PLN 97 billion by 2023 and an additional PLN 30-40 billion for a special weapons fund.
Speaking of inflation, in the draft budget for 2023 projected at the level of 9.8 percent. he points out that the calculations involve a certain degree of risk. As an example, he cited the 2022 budget, which was drafted before the Russian aggression against Ukraine, which shocked the energy market and broke supply chains.
This has caused inflation worldwide to go crazy
– added. Inflation may be slightly lower, he said, but the government took a cautious version of it.
In response to the journalist’s question about the future of social programs, he assured that the announced and legally valid social programs would be maintained. As examples, he mentioned the programs: “Rodzina 500+”, Rodzinny Kapitał Opiekuń (Family Care Capital) and the 13th old-age pension.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki announced on Tuesday that the government has passed the draft budget law for 2023, which foresees that by 2023 expenditure will be PLN 669 billion, revenues will be PLN 604.4 billion and a deficit of about PLN 65 billion.
