Chechnya President Ramzan Kadyrov has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin not to “prolong” the military operation in Ukraine and to allow it to be completed as soon as possible.
“I ask the Commander-in-Chief to give us the opportunity to end the special operation and postpone it, and once again I truly request it,” Kadyrov said in his voice message published on Telegram. SBU.
He also stated that if “15% of the world community is against us”, this does not mean “the whole world is against us”.
“We can calm this 15% quickly. There’s absolutely nothing wrong,” said Kadyrov. We’ve fought our whole lives, we know how to do it. So expect a surprise.”
The leader of Chechnya said that he would “take Kiev a long time ago,” but he did not receive such an order.
“AND [президент Украины Владимир] Zelensky and people like him would have been sitting in the basement for interrogations for a long time … Thank you Putin for not being allowed to take Kiev and ask you exactly, KVNshchik, ”Kadyrov said.
According to him, Chechen troops have “many” opportunities that allow them “to boldly go to Europe, first of all, to force their people to change their decision against the state.”
“I am preparing very hard and we are preparing very hard,” said Kadyrov. “When an order comes, it will be very difficult to stop the mechanism started.”
What does the SBU accuse Kadyrov of?
On August 26, the Security Service of Ukraine accused the leader of Chechnya under three articles of the country’s Criminal Code, including “waging an aggressive war” and “taking deliberate actions to change the borders of Ukrainian territory.” Similar accusations were made against Daniil Martynov (deputy head of the National Guard of Chechnya and currently works as an adviser to the head of the Ministry of Emergencies) and Hussein Mezhidov (commander of the Chechen battalion “South”).
The intelligence service announced that it had gathered sufficient evidence that war crimes had been committed.
“It is documented that in February-March 2022, Kadyrov personally led the development and planning of individual military operations of these units, gave orders, listened to reports and reports from their leaders,” the SBU said.
In response to the accusations, Kadyrov asked the SBU to determine where he should appear for the trial.
“We will be happy to come and find out who the criminal, the terrorist is. You have no honor, you have no conscience, you have no patriotism, you have no love for the Motherland, ”said the head of Chechnya. He stressed that he will continue to take part in the conflicts in Ukraine.
In addition, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, has ordered criminal proceedings against the SBU for the “illegal prosecution” of Kadyrov and other officials. The Investigative Committee stressed that the decisions of the special services were taken “on unnecessary grounds and against the law”.
The role of the Chechen army in the special operation
Chechen military personnel and volunteers are also participating in the conflict in Ukraine. On August 10, the head of Chechnya reported that 9,000 fighters in the region are ready to be sent to Ukraine, and another 10,000 fighters are in reserve. According to Kadyrov, the Chechen army took part in the battles in Mariupol, Severodonetsk, Lisichansk, Popasnaya and other settlements.
Kadyrov has repeatedly described the tactics of the military operation as “too slow” and called for it to cover all Ukrainian territory.
“As I understand it, the tactics chosen in Ukraine are very slow. It takes a long time and I don’t think it’s effective,” he said. Kadyrov also urged the President of the Russian Federation to “close all eyes” and let “everything be completed in a day or two”.
In March, the governor of Chechnya criticized the conduct of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, saying that it made no sense.
“These talks will have no meaning. I believe that it is necessary to completely end those started to destroy Bandera, Natsik and demons. And only then you need to decide what to do, ”said Kadyrov.
In early August, the head of the LPR Leonid Pasechnik awarded Kadyrov the title of Hero of the Republic and thanked the Chechens for their help “in their confrontation with the Nazis of Ukraine.” According to Pasechnik, all residents of the LPR know who the fighters of the Akhmat units are.
