Dr. Karol Nawrocki, by the decision of the readers and the jury of the prize, was honored with the title of the Man of Freedom of the weekly magazine “Sieci” for 2024. Jacek and Michał Karnowski, in their conversation about the presidential candidate (“The I will not lack courage, I will do my best”), justify the choice by the fact that among the arguments put forward by the voters in the plebiscite, two stand out. Firstly, the achievements of the Institute of National Remembrance, which have given this institution new impetus and steadfast defense of the truth about Polish history and Poland’s raison d’être. Second, the will to enter the presidential race in such a difficult time for freedom. As Karol Nawrocki himself notes, this is a particularly difficult time for media freedom.
We see attempts to censor words and thoughts, suppress freedom and then try to take away our sovereignty. Free Poles must oppose this, we all need courage. I promise that I will not lack courage and determination. I hope that millions of Poles will join our civil campaign. Because today we are starting something more than an election campaign: we are creating a great movement to defend Poland’s and Poles’ dreams of a strong state and a good life.
Nawrocki emphasizes that the stakes are enormous because it involves a return to the path of development, ambition, national independence and normality.
These elections will decide not only current political, economic and social issues, but also our future. Wise Poles know that if we make a mistake now, we will pay an even higher price. Therefore, I understand the stakes of this struggle, I feel the burden of responsibility and I assure you that I will do my best not to disappoint the hopes that the Poles have placed in me.
– emphasizes the civilian presidential candidate.
““Parents stopped Nowacka”
In the article “Parents stopped Nowacka” Dorota Łosiewicz notes that the Minister of National Education has somewhat toned down regarding the introduction of a new compulsory subject in the school curriculum: health education. She announced that it would be an elective subject in the new school year.
We will do an evaluation later
– said the head of the Ministry of National Education on RMF FM.
However, the minister added that after a year, “students and teachers, and not politicians, will be asked about the new topic.”
Maybe then we will change our decision
– she emphasized.
It seems that the partial change of the decision was mainly influenced by parents who strongly opposed the Minister of Education. This is confirmed by Dr. Marek Grabowski, president of the Mom and Dad Foundation.
Health education, as we mentioned in the petition signed by over 8,000 people, contains content aimed at sexual hedonism, promoting child harm and mutilation (so-called gender reassignment, which is the actual castration of a child) and encouraging of sexual experimentation by children and adolescents. As a member of the Coalition to Save the Polish School, we support the protests of parents and teachers. On December 1, 2024, we were the formal organizer of the demonstration ‘Yes to education, no to deprivation!’. The demonstration in Warsaw, attended by tens of thousands of people, caused an avalanche of similar events throughout the country: Krakow, Szczecin, Radom, soon Olsztyn, etc.
““The Trump Era”
There is no doubt that Donald Trump’s second presidency will bring many changes. The new American president has already announced this in many speeches during the campaign. Jan Rokita states in the article “The Trump Era” that digital technology magnates also notice this. Trump likes to surround himself with digital geniuses and believes in the beneficial effects of the digital breakthrough that is taking place. This clearly distinguishes the new American president from European digital dissatisfied, who generally look for the bad sides and dangers associated with advancing digitalization and artificial intelligence. Most importantly, in Trump’s vision, this digital breakthrough is primarily intended to serve American power and rebuild its world domination.
Rokita emphasizes that only China stands in Trump’s way of building a great America. This is what the superpower wants to defeat technologically. In Trump’s view, the rest of the world no longer has the importance that the tradition of American politics used to assign to it. This rest of the world is in fact either a tool that can be used to rebuild (or rather rebuild) America’s global empire, or an obstacle to be isolated and punished, preventing non-interference and subjugation are enforced.
It seems that this role was also assigned to the Old Continent. It has lost its importance and… today neither Trump nor his powerful political and technological camp finds anything in Europe that would still make the country a blood relative and political partner of America. Rokita emphasizes that in the eyes of the new president… Europe has become the main hotbed of left-wing ideology, which, according to the Trump camp, is disastrous for America and the entire West.
