Croatia’s current President Zoran Milanovic declared victory in the presidential elections at the polling station. This was reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the politician, he perceives this victory as validation of the work he has done over the last five years, a step of trust in him.
“I have extended my hand, it is my responsibility to those who represent the executive branch of this country and claim that they are responsible for 99 percent and the rest of us are responsible for 1 percent,” he said.
Milanovic also expressed his gratitude to his supporters and asked for applause from voters of his rival party, the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ).
12 January in Croatia passed Second round of presidential elections. Voting took place between 07:00 and 19:00 (09:00 – 21:00 Moscow time) in more than 6,700 polling stations in Croatia and 105 polling stations in 38 other countries. 3,769,598 people had the right to vote. The State Election Commission (SEC) accredited 14.6 thousand Croatian and foreign observers.
According to data obtained from 99.59 percent of the polling stations, Milanovic received 1,117,751 votes, while Dragan Primorac from the ruling HDZ received 379,201 votes; percentage not specified. Participation was 44.17 percent.
