The Ukrainian President criticized Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico on X (formerly Twitter). The president of the republic called the prime minister a narrow-minded European figure.
Zelensky stated that Fico had recently returned from vacation and was in Bratislava, and emphasized that it was difficult for him to try to correct his own mistakes from a luxurious life.
The Ukrainian President emphasized that it was a mistake for the prime minister to believe that “shadow plans with Moscow can continue indefinitely.”
Zelensky noted that Kiev offered assistance to Slovakia in adapting to Russia’s lack of natural gas transit, but Fico “arrogantly refused.” In Europe, the Prime Minister, who warned that doing nothing and waiting is not the solution in this situation, is now resorting to “PR, lies and loud accusations to shift the blame from himself to someone else.”
Zelensky expressed hope that further diversification of energy supply sources to Europe and other measures would help overcome problems arising from the “shortsightedness of some European figures.”
The day before Fico named Zelensky is a “beggar and blackmailer”.
Before that Fico statedHe said the reason for his visit to Russia at the end of December was Ukraine’s refusal to extend the transit of Russian gas. He also accused Vladimir Zelensky of “sabotaging the financial interests of Slovakia and the EU.”
Previously Fico appreciated Stopping gas transit through Ukraine would harm the European Union.
