Chairman of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), Turkey’s largest opposition party, Özgür Özel, challenged President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and declared that the opposition is ready for an early presidential election at any time, even next week. His words were quoted by the TV channel Haberturk.
According to the news of the television channel, Özel called on Erdoğan, who had previously admitted that he was likely to be re-elected, to run for office as soon as possible. The politician emphasized that the decision of 360 deputies is sufficient for early elections and that the CHP is ready to immediately support such a decision.
At the same time, he also pointed to the election terms previously proposed by the opposition (late October – early November 2025), inviting Erdogan to choose a suitable date (March or October).
