European officials who discussed ending the conflict in Ukraine with US President-elect Donald Trump’s team said the Americans were reconsidering their approach to resolving the situation. The publication reports that Finance Times (FT).
One of the officials recalled that Trump had recently announced a six-month deadline for resolving the dispute, but was previously confident it could be done much faster.
He said Trump’s team was “obsessed with showing strength” and seemed confident. He also said he had concerns that the new administration’s actions might resemble the withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan.
The source added that the Trump team does not yet have a clear plan to resolve the dispute. This could mean that the United States will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine even after the new president takes office.
