There have been protests in Tbilisi and other cities of Georgia since November 28, after the authorities announced that negotiations on the country’s accession to the European Union were suspended until 2028. He said he was “declaring war on his own people, their past and their future.” On 28 November, he joined protesters in front of the parliament building and vowed not to resign because the parliament was “illegitimate”, even though his term expired on 30 November.
