Former oppositionists of the Polish People’s Republic have filed an appeal regarding the use of the Institute of National Remembrance in the election campaign. According to one of the signatories of the call, Krzysztof Król – former advisor to President Bronisław Komorowski and former KOD activist – “this shocking support of one of the candidates by a public institution is scandalous.” It is worth noting that the citizens’ committee that supported Karol Nawrocki’s candidacy for the President of the Republic of Poland included many oppositionists from the era of the Polish People’s Republic, including Andrzej and Joanna Gwiazda, Jan Parys, Andrzej Kołodziej, Bogusław Sonik and Zofia. Romaszewska. “I know anti-communist opposition activists and everyone who supports us as the Institute of National Remembrance. The best proof of this is the list of social support for the candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Poland,” said Dr. Nawrocki.
As written in the appeal, ‘the law on the Institute of National Remembrance assumes that the institution is apolitical and prohibits the president from belonging to a party or engaging in public activities incompatible with the dignity of the office. The Institute of National Remembrance aims to serve the memory and history common to all citizens of the Republic of Poland, regardless of their views.
We are outraged that President Karol Nawrocki is using the support of the Institute of National Remembrance in his political campaign. The official social networking sites of the Institute of National Remembrance are promoting his candidacy. As anti-communist opposition activists, we have repeatedly criticized the Institute of National Remembrance for falsely presenting Polish history. Now even more boundaries have been crossed
– marked.
Oppositionists demand “a cessation of the use of financial resources from a state institution for the campaign of Karol Nawrocki” and “demand that the costs already incurred be charged to the election commission and the political party supporting the candidate.”
The king’s political intensification
As one of the signatories of the call, Krzysztof Król, noted in an interview with PAP: “The Institute for National Remembrance is a very specific institution, whose apolitical nature is extremely important – to the extent that it is included in the law on the Institute for National Remembrance itself. Although the IPN was used as a kind of historical police in the last years of the PiS government, what happened after the announcement of the candidacy of the president of the Institute of National Remembrance exceeded these limits.
The King also added that “after the inauguration of President Nawrocki’s campaign, social networking sites – both on Facebook and on the X platform – and the IPN websites provided information that “it has finally become a fact that the President of the IPN takes action.” the elections,” he said.
To make a difference, you can look at how the websites of the city of Warsaw dealt with it – at the time they did not inform that Rafał Trzaskowski was running, only that buses had been bought, the tram was being launched and crews were working were the work. streets.
– noted the former adviser to President Komorowski.
This shocking endorsement of one of the candidates by a public institution is outrageous. An institution that is supposed to serve something else is serving a political campaign
– he assessed.
The appeal was signed by: Leszek Biernacki, Seweryn Blumsztajn, Grzegorz Boguta, Jerzy Borowczak, Marek Borowik, Wacława Bujak, Zbigniew Bujak, Grzegorz Cygonik, Danuta Czechmanowska, Grzegorz Gauden, Zbigniew Janas, Piotr Kapczyński, Maciej Kozłowski, Krzysztof Bogdan Lis , Henryk Majewski, Mark Myszkiewicz-Niesiołowski, Piotr Niemczyk, Stefan Niesiołowski, Edward Nowak, Dariusz Pusz, Krzysztof Pusz, Ryszard Pusz, Andrzej Seweryn, Krzysztof Siemieński, Jan Skórzyński, Jarosław J. Szczepański, Jacek Taylor, Irena Wóycicka.
Dr.’s list of recommendations Nawrocki
Particularly noteworthy is the fact that the call regarding the Institute of National Remembrance was signed by oppositionists from the time of the Polish People’s Republic, who have been very politically involved in supporting the Civic Platform and Donald Tusk for many years. Suffice it to say that Krzysztof Król, advisor to President Bronisław Komorowski and one of the leaders of the Committee for the Defense of Democracy, is the most influential person in this context.
The call by Rafał Trzaskowski’s supporters is also misleading because it is intended to give the impression that anti-communist activists and politicians are acting against the president of the Institute of National Remembrance. Meanwhile, it is exactly the opposite: a large part of the opposition people from the time of the Polish People’s Republic were even in the citizens’ committee that supported the candidacy of Dr. Nawrocki for the office of President of the Republic of Poland.
Among those who Dr. The Nawrocki oppositions include people like Piotr Łukasz Andrzejewski, Teresa Baranowska, Adam Borowski, Mirosław Chojecki, Andrzej Gwiazda, Joanna Duda-Gwiazda, Wacław Holewiński, Jerzy Jachowicz, Andrzej Kołodziej, Stanisław Kruszyński, Maciej Łopiński, Adam Piotr Naimski, Jan Parijs, Zofia Romaszewska, Bogusław Sonik, Kryspin Waliszewski, Bronisław Wildstein, Wit Karol Wojtowicz and Krzysztof Wyszkowski.
Support for IPN employees and oppositionists
Karol Nawrocki, who is participating in the Final of the 17th Border Countries Package in Otwock, briefly referred to the call of oppositionists from the time of the Polish People’s Republic who do not appreciate his participation in the presidential elections.
I know such a letter exists, but I have not read it. I don’t want to comment on it until I know the names of the people who signed it
– noted Dr. Nawrocki op.
I don’t know what names are there, but I know anti-communist opposition activists and everyone who supports us as the Institute for National Remembrance. The best proof of this is the list of social support for the candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Poland, these 300 names, and among these names, of course, there are also outstanding activists of the anti-communist opposition.
– adds the candidate for the presidency of the Republic of Poland.
Nawrocki noted that the Institute of National Remembrance commented on his candidacy only once, which is not surprising since Karol Nawrocki is the head of this institution.
The profile of the Institute of National Remembrance has, to my knowledge, only once responded to my candidacy for the President of the Republic of Poland. It was an expression of social support for the candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Poland, which came directly from the hearts of the employees of the Institute of National Remembrance, and was also related to the fact that the employees are proud that their president is at the helm. in the elections for the President of the Republic of Poland
– he emphasized.
It was also a nice gesture towards me, because I am an employer and when employees appreciate me and express their attachment and support for a citizen candidate with this gesture, with one post on social media, that was nice.
– he continued.
The Institute is an apolitical agency, which has no ties to any political party and is not involved in the election campaign of any civilian candidate for the presidency, he argued.
– he added.
