This is – once again – the statement of the KO candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Poland. Rafał Trzaskowski stated that there are no regulations that would regulate the conduct and financing of pre-campaigns. He added that if he goes somewhere as mayor of Warsaw, it is for business trips, and if the trip is not related to the exercise of this position, he pays for it himself. Convincing translations?
During the press conference, Trzaskowski was asked (recently again!) about financing, among other things. renting rooms for meetings with voters and whether conducting a campaign will not negatively affect the performance of his duties as president of the capital.
Trzaskowski replied that not only he, but also other presidential candidates – Chairman of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia (Polska2050) and Chairman of the Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki (candidate with PiS support) will continue to perform their functions.
Such questions were asked in every previous campaign, including to the President of the Republic of Poland and the Prime Minister. It is clear that people are carrying out their duties undisturbed. However, if you spend all day on the campaign trail, and President Nawrocki has talked about that, you take a vacation
– said Trzaskowski.

“I meet with local government officials
Trzaskowski noted that the campaign has not yet formally started and that the current pre-campaign time is not governed by any regulations.
When we are dealing with an election campaign, we have clear rules. The scandal of recent years was that PiS broke the rules in the election campaign, which was financed with taxpayers’ money. There are no rules at this time. I have adopted such rules that when I act as President of Warsaw, I meet local government officials, I participate in meetings of the Union of Polish Metropolises, in meetings of the Council of Polish Cities, I work as President of Warsaw
– Trzaskowski explained.
He said that on Friday he would go to Krakow for a meeting of the Union of Polish Metropolises – and that it would therefore be a business trip, while on Saturday in Gliwice he would invite everyone to December 7, when KO would hold a pre-campaign start. and then he would pay for the gas himself.
Wherever I am as mayor of the capital, I go there on business. Where I do not fulfill such a role, I pay myself
– said the candidate of the Civic Coalition.
When asked who pays for the hall rental, he states that he is invited “sometimes by local government officials, sometimes by PO activists, sometimes by private individuals and they pay for the hall.”
These are the rules we have adopted. As soon as we start the election campaign, we enter the campaign regime, which is precisely regulated by law
– noted Trzaskowski.

Elections in May. The question concerns a specific date
The presidential election campaign will begin only after the Sejm Chairman’s decision to organize elections is published in the Journal of Laws. Szymon Hołownia announced that he would order the elections on January 8, that the election campaign will formally begin after the publication of his decision, and that the financing of the expenses of registered electoral commissions will have to be covered from own resources.
The financial resources of the electoral commission of a candidate for the Presidency of the Republic of Poland may come exclusively from contributions from Polish citizens with permanent residence permits in Poland, from electoral funds of political parties and from bank loans contracted for electoral purposes.
