The leader of Poland 2050, President of the Sejm Szymon Hołownia, announced that he is considering taking legal action against Collegium Humanum for unlawful trading of his personal data. He assured that he had not spent “a single minute” at the university and had not attended any classes. “I am a victim of this situation, not the perpetrator,” he said.
Yesterday the weekly magazine “Newsweek” reported that the leader of Poland 2050 studied at Collegium Humanum. Hołownia denied the newspaper’s information. He admitted that he applied for admission to psychology at this university but did not pursue the course.
It seems that I will probably be justified in considering taking legal action against this university for its illegal handling of my personal information. Because if I didn’t do these studies, didn’t sign the contract, didn’t pay the money, and they claim otherwise and trade my data, that’s illegal. I think this is something that should be checked by both the Public Prosecution Service and the Office for the Protection of Personal Data.
– said Hołownia during Thursday’s press conference.
He assured that he had not been to Collegium Humanum even once, “he did not spend a single minute there, he did not take any classes, he did not write a single thesis, he did not participate in any projects, (…) he did not sign a study contract .”
I didn’t pay for these tests, you won’t find anyone there who saw me
– added the marshal. He noted that he wanted to study psychology at Collegium Humanum and not pursue an MBA degree. He says he did not study at the Collegium Humanum for the same reason he did not complete his previous studies at SWPS.
The job overwhelmed me
– he added.
The leader of Poland 2050 stated that he – like thousands of people – is a victim of this university.
I am the victim of this situation, not the perpetrator
– he emphasized.
I thought that I could study and graduate there normally, but it turned out that this university has a suspicious reputation
– he said.
As he stated, he believes that Tomasz Siemoniak, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration, coordinator of special services, has not taken any action by the services in this case.
I gave him the information, he checked it and said there was no such activity. I believe him, but I know that sometimes situations happen that I don’t have full control over. And that is what I fear most, that there is a game being played here, a politically motivated game. I am not accusing Donald Tusk or any of the politicians in the governing coalition, but it seems to me that such things do not happen without reason.
– said Hołownia.
When asked if the accusations against him were that he had to complete his studies without paying any fees without taking classes, Hołownia replied that these were lies and slander. He also asked what benefit he would get from this, since he did not obtain a diploma and had a secondary education.
Hołownia reiterated that he has full confidence in Minister Siemoniak and also in Justice Minister Adam Bodnar.
I have 300 percent confidence in Minister Bodnar, but I do not have complete confidence in the entire Public Prosecution Service as an institution, because it is still tainted by many bad events. That’s why I say that sometimes the head and management are one thing, but the decision-making and operational level is sometimes another
– said the marshal.
But these are dirty games and they always end badly, because in the end they have to present their receipts
– Hołownia added. However, he noted that it would be difficult to provide evidence in this case.
What can I show you to prove I wasn’t there? The air from that room where I wasn’t? If anyone wants to prove I was there, they have to show a photo, a recording or whatever. (…) Even if we assume that he (the Rector PAP) entered some numbers on my left side, he must have done so somehow. There must have been some work, something, some credit, but there must have been some contact where I presented him with some knowledge based on which he did something, because if he just did it like crazy, that means he falsified documents.
– argued Hołownia.
During the briefing, the leader of Poland 2050 also referred to one of the information provided by “Newsweek”, according to which the nearest Vice President of Poland 2050, currently MEP Michał Kobosko, also wanted to study at Collegium Humanum and it was he who had to negotiate with the rector of the university, Paweł Cz.
Hołownia stated that he never spoke to Kobosko that “all studies should be free”, but he helped him get the documents to the university. He added that Kobosko also did not conduct these studies.
Hołownia also reported the sequence of events.
Michał (Kobosko) told me that he was considering studying at this university. So I filled out all the forms that needed to be filled out, gave them to him, and that’s how it went
– he said. He added that he could not recall any remote procedures that had to be completed online.
I also haven’t logged into any university systems. My journey with it (university) took as long as writing the admissions papers. And then suddenly I woke up in a situation where it turned out that Mr. Czarnecki was a fraudster
– said the marshal.
Over the past year I have often said (…) that I applied for admission to study at Collegium Humanum and was considering studying at Collegium Humanum because when this scandal broke out, I was questioned about it from all sides. When it turned out that there were a lot of politicians getting fake MBAs there, and some other stories started there, my name also started appearing in this context.
– he explained.
The marshal noted that there had already been media reports linking his name to Collegium Humanum. He added that he learned of the scandal during an interview for Onet, but that he could not remember the name of the university. He emphasized that soon after, questions began to arise about the relations he and his close associate Michał Kobosko had with the university, which is why they wrote statements on this matter.
It appears that Mr Czarnecki has prepared well for his role and has painstakingly set aside documents to create leads and reach compromises.
– said Hołownia.
When asked whether he was not surprised by the fact that no one from the university contacted him after registration on the student list, for example about tuition fees, Hołownia admitted that he was not surprised by this fact. As he explained, he was fulfilling his duties and was not interested in documents at the university.
I didn’t pay any money, so I had no loss from what happened. (…) I didn’t start it, I did other things
– he said.
Newsweek article
According to Newsweek, former employees of Collegium Humanum – a private university in Warsaw – say they saw Hołownia’s name on the student list and that his grades and documents were entered into the IT system that supports education at the university. Although, according to the weekly magazine’s informants, Hołownia never really studied and “would simply receive a master’s degree” based on the passes and grades he had previously obtained while studying at SWPS, as well as “the kindness of former rector Paweł Cz.”
CBA officials have been dealing with irregularities surrounding the Collegium Humanum university (currently Varsovia University of Business and Applied Sciences) since February. It was then that journalists from “Newsweek” discovered that the private university offered fast-track courses that would allow you to earn an MBA degree. Such diplomas made it easier, among other things: path to the supervisory boards of companies of the Ministry of Finance. The credibility of the documents issued by Collegium Humanum had to be guaranteed by, among other things: foreign universities, but they turned out not to be authorized to offer MBA studies. Graduates of Collegium Humanum have included: politicians, presidents and state finance executives, secret service officials, and military commanders.
Since February, the CBA has arrested approximately thirty people in connection with the Collegium Humanum case. The complaint has already been heard by, among others: former PiS MP Karol Karski and Mayor of Wrocław Jacek Sutryk.
