“I believe that today we begin the history of a new victory here. I believe in this victory and I believe in Poland. I believe in you, ladies and gentlemen. I believe in Poland and I will fight for it. I have come a long way, ladies and gentlemen, to be here with you today,” said Dr. Karol Nawrocki, Chairman of the Institute of National Remembrance, candidate citizen for the presidency of the Republic of Poland, during the Poland-Future Civic Convention with the participation of PiS President Jarosław Kaczyński at Hala Sokół in Kraków. It was here that ten years ago the president of PiS announced the candidacy of Andrzej Duda.

Karol Nawrocki’s speech was announced by his eldest son Daniel.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen. Daniel, son, thank you very much. Thank you for being here and for being with us today. Thank you for these words. Thank you for being here and for the nice welcome. Because you are with me today. Thank you!
– said Doctor Nawrocki.
Yes, I confirm it. This is a place of victories. I believe that today we begin the history of a new victory here. I believe in this victory and I believe in Poland. I believe in you, ladies and gentlemen. I believe in Poland and I will fight for it. Ladies and gentlemen, I have come a long way to be here with you today
– emphasized the candidate.
I can say with full responsibility that I am ready to represent all Poles (…) Because my path started in a working-class area of Gdańsk, through a school and a sports hall. The one I remember best, which unfortunately no longer exists at the Gdańsk Shipyard, is the hall of the workers’ club “Stoczniowiec”. (…) I live like many of you. Modest but dignified. And always with Poland in my heart
– he added.
Family is the first lesson in responsibility for Poland
I came to you, ladies and gentlemen, in the time of intellectual work. Hundreds, perhaps thousands of books, University of Gdańsk. Trust me. I didn’t take a selfie when I rode tram line 12 from Siedlce in Gdańsk to the University of Gdańsk every day for five years. It was my normal life. I didn’t have to take a selfie
– Nawrocki emphasized.
The first lesson in responsibility for Poland was, is and remains my immediate family. I am very happy that my wonderful and beloved wife Marta is with me today, she is my great support. My sister Nina, who makes the best cakes in the world, is a true confectionery master. And great kids. You’ve already met Daniel. Antek, a young football player, and the most beautiful, wonderful and sweetest girl in the whole world, you must forgive me, Kasia
– he added.
I also warmly greet my mother, who is probably watching us on TV, in the same apartment where I grew up as a young boy. I love you, mom, thank you!
– said the presidential candidate.
“Poland is my great love”
I received the most beautiful lesson in the history and service of the Republic of Poland at the Institute of National Remembrance, fighting for Polish memory, cultivating Polish memory here in Poland, but also around the world, (…) the Demanding Polish truth (. ..)
– noted Dr. Nawrocki in his speech.
At the Institute of National Remembrance I went from an ordinary employee and inspector to leading this wonderful and important institution in the infrastructure of the Polish state. And finally the Museum of the Second World War and Westerplatte. Westerplatte gives us a lesson today that is still valid. That, as the outstanding intellectual and historian Prof. Henryk Elzenberg, the feeling of the struggle must be measured by the values on the basis of which the struggle takes place, and not by the chances of victory. We, ladies and gentlemen, are fighting for values today, but we have a duty to win
– he added.
One of these values, which are so close to Poles, is of course freedom. Personal freedom, but also freedom in responsibility for our community. (…) Formed for more than a thousand years, on the foundation of Christian values, of which we cannot be ashamed, ladies and gentlemen. We cannot be ashamed and tear down crosses in the offices of the Polish capital
– said the presidential candidate.
Poland is my great love. The only love my wife won’t be angry about. Poland is my love, that’s why I’m ready to become President of the Republic of Poland
– Nawrocki noted. Those in attendance chanted, “We will win.”
“I’m One of You”
There is a great task, a great honor, a tremendous obligation before us. But I’ll tell you why I’m ready to be your president. I’m ready because I’ve been with you all my life, next to you. I know Poland and understand your needs. Yes, I’m one of you. I know and understand that in order for Poland to be great, it must also be great. Because you have to defend Poland, you have to defend your values. Do not allow our symbols to be taken away and our sovereignty limited
– emphasized Dr. Nawrocki.
I want to be your president because I have worked hard all my life and continue to do so. Like you, Poles, you work hard and you need a president who will also work hard for you
– he added.
““This is about Poland, not about the Polish-Polish war.”
At this point I would like to thank the Citizens’ Committee and more than 100 exceptional people. Intellectuals, people from public life, for the great support given by Prof. Andrzej Nowak. For such moving, but certainly also very binding words for me
– assured the President of the Institute of National Remembrance.
I would especially like to thank the United Right camp and its leader, Mr Jarosław Kaczyński
– said Nawrocki.
Mr President, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for your trust, but above all for the responsibility that allowed me to support a candidate who has always been impartial, a civilian candidate, in the name of unity.
– he said.
The maturity of the camp to think about entrusting such a difficult and honorable mission to someone from outside the political dispute is an expression of concern for the current divided (…) Republic of Poland. Thank you for your trust and responsibility for Poland
– he pointed.
And while it may sound like science fiction today, I have no doubt that as a nation we must finally make an effort to end the Polish-Polish war. Because this is about Poland, not about the Polish-Polish war. (…) If you trust me as a civilian candidate, the Polish-Polish war will end
– assured Dr. Karol Nawrocki.
“‘Poland needs permission and care’
Because Poland, ladies and gentlemen, is a big problem. It requires the agreement, understanding and cooperation of the entire patriotic camp. This is a difficult task, but perhaps the most important in the coming campaign. But as you well know, today we are at a specific political moment. After two successful terms of government, after the recovery of public finances, and after eight years of investment, social and armament programs
– noted the candidate.
In recent years, we have dynamically reduced the distance of Polish wealth on the scale of Europe and the world. (…) However, the Poles decided to make changes. Many of them thought it could be even better. They have been deceived – it is even worse. It’s even worse, ladies and gentlemen, because apparent, high-profile media settlements will not replace government efficiency. As a result, the queues for doctors do not disappear and the lives of the families I recently met in Bolesławiec, Aleksandrów Łódzki or Kruszwica do not improve.
– he added.
There was incredible chaos in the functioning of the law and in the administration of justice. We guarantee you, ladies and gentlemen, representatives of the government, if you look at us, that Poles have already lost themselves in the new announcements about who may and may not be Polish judges. Article 7 of the Polish Constitution, which speaks of the rule of law, is consistently violated (…). There is an ongoing disturbing attack on institutions independent of the executive branch. And I am the president of one of such institutions, so I know this unjustified attack. Poland needs stability, unity, order and care. Mainly concerned about safety. Financial security of Polish families. (…) To save the well-being of hardworking Poles, I will come up with further legislative initiatives, the first of which will be to free hardworking Poles from taxes on earned overtime
– he emphasized.
(…) Poland needs agreement and concern about energy security. Return to the thoughts of the late President Lech Kaczynski. (…). Poland needs security for our identity. Identities within EU structures. And not a centralized state inhabited by EU citizens of Polish descent
– said Karol Nawrocki.
Alliance with the US and the threat from Russia
We must act because we have lost too much time through naivety or political stupidity. It was naive to depend on Russian raw materials. Today we know. It was naive to believe that Nord Stream 2 was a business project. Europe’s lack of response to Russia’s rearmament process and its belief that Russia could be tamed were naive. We know this today too
– said the civilian candidate for president.
In times of war, military security must become a demarcation line for political disputes for many years, and not just for terms, with one goal: to gradually develop the potential of the Polish Armed Forces. Strengthening the quantitative and equipment potential with a Polish army of at least 300,000 men, the largest European land army within NATO structures, which carries with it the potential to intimidate and – God forbid – must have the potential to attack effectively
– Karol Nawrocki added.
Today we are part of the largest military alliance in history: NATO, or the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Because if anyone didn’t know, it’s the same
– he noted, jabbing at KO candidate Rafał Trzaskowski.
The new President of the Republic of Poland must become a stabilizer of the age-old good relationship with the US in a situation where, unfortunately, important representatives of the ruling camp regularly insulted the newly elected US President
– said Doctor Nawrocki.
The strategic alliance with the US protects us against EU attempts to weaken NATO’s deterrent capacity and slow down the development of military infrastructure in Eastern Europe. Despite such stable alliances, no one but Poland faces the common task of completing the programs undertaken before October 15, 2023. Allies can only defend those who can defend themselves. I believe that Poland is effectively defending its borders, and not that Poland is paying illegal immigrants to leave our country
– he emphasized.
